Bonnie's BELLAIRS Family
Whilst this is a very small line, I feel I must include it on my Web Page as my particular side of this line no longer has the surname Bellairs. The family links to my BULL side as Ann Louisa Frances Russell Bull married Commander John Harry BELLEARS R.N. of the Uffington, Lincolnshire Bellears/Bellairs family.
The last of the males holding this surname in my line, was Eugene Bellairs (1824 1911) whose name shows up in the history books of South Australia, Victoria and New Zealand. His son died young and his girls never married.
However, his sister Marguerite Louise Bellairs married Arthur William GLIDDON and settled in South Australia. She had a large family and their descendants can be found in most states in Australia right up to the present day.
Names that stand out in this line are Edgar GILES, a well known S.A. explorer who married one of the Gliddon girls and Andrew THOMAS the well known Australian astronaut.
I have lost a William Harry Bellairs born in 1823 at Perramuthnoe, Cornwall, England and know the family lived in France for many years, so, if anyone recognizes this name from their family tree, I would love to add another cousin to my line.
I feel that I must update this page as recently, by sheer chance, I found that another one of this BELLAIRS line came out to Australia and settled in Queensland. They are descended from George Robert BELLAIRS born around 1828 at Berwick-on-Tweed and his wife Mary BLACK whom he met out here in Australia. They had 10 children but, only one of the males, Robert Norman James BELLAIRS, survived to carry on the BELLAIRS name. If anyone in Queensland knows they have this surname back in their family, I would really love to hear from you.
