Here's to you Ann!....you are certainly not forgotten!
A few years back I was getting to the stage of being totally bored with having only ‘brick walls’ to work on in my family tree research, I decided to take on something to keep up my interest in genealogy but one that wouldn’t cause me too many hassles….little did I realize then that it was going to be one of the largest ‘Trees’ I had ever taken on!
I finally decided to work on a side line that were sponsored out to Australia by my 2nd great-grandfather William Prigg and his brother Henry . The reason for sponsoring them out here to settle was because James Partridge’e wife Anne TURNER, was William and Henry’s 1st cousin.
James Partridge was the son of John Partridge and Elizabeth Jacob of Little Livermere, Suffolk, England and he and Anne were married in Thetford in Norfolk After having four children in England, they decided that Australia would give them a better standard of living and a place where they could have their own piece of land.
James and Anne landed in Australia in 1858 and very shortly afterwards moved north and settled in a little country area on the Macleay River where they flourished and had three more children. Only one of their 7 children died young, the rest went on to raise large families in and around Kempsey, NSW.
Amongst their descendants were Frank John Partridge who was a recipient of the V.C. in WW2 and later to become famous for his truly fantastic memory by scooping the pool in a well-known radio quiz, Bob & Dolly Dyer’s Pick a Box. Another, from one of the female sides was David Gordon Kirkpatrick, better known to people from all over the world as Australia’s own SLIM DUSTY, many were sad to hear of his death quite recently.
I have had a fun time working on this line as, whist doing it, I found the friendship of Wendy Partridge from Belmore River, NSW, who worked hard with me in putting this side all together. I have only put a small amount of this line here but, if anyone is interested in any of the line, please don't hesitate to contact me by email.

All the Surnames which are in my PARTRIDGE family tree.
